Prudential Commits K 245,745.00 For The 2019/2020 Cha Ching Financial Literacy Program Expansion To Copperbelt Province

Prudential Life Assurance Zambia has invested K 245, 745.00 for the 2019/2020 Cha Ching Program. The program will be implemented in partnership with Junior Achievement Zambia. In 2018, Prudential implemented the Cha Ching Program in 5 Lusaka based Primary Schools which reached 648 pupils. The 2019/2020 Program will be implemented in 10 Ndola based Primary Schools.

From July 2017 to May 2019, Prudential Life Assurance Zambia and Junior Achievement Zambia have been implementing the inaugural Cha Ching Program in Zambia which involved over 1,064 primary School pupils in grade 5 and 6. Over 30 Prudential members of staff were involved in the Cha Ching Program.

In July, 2018, Prudential and Junior Achievement Zambia were jointly awarded by the Governor of the Bank of Zambia Dr. Denny Kalyalya for Exceptional Financial Literacy Week Outreach at ceremony held at Radisson Blu Hotel in Lusaka

The objectives of Cha-Ching are to:
o Provide engaging, academically enriching, and experiential learning sessions in economic education
o Help the students discover four concepts in using money: Earn, Save, Spend and Donate

In a statement recently, JA Zambia Executive Director, Mr. Teddy M Nyasulu said “JA Zambia, we would to thank Prudential for continued partnership in empowering primary school children with practical financial literacy skills. You may appreciate that financial literacy is key to ensure all Zambian citizens develop positive attitudes to make informed financial decisions. We are grateful to Prudential for continuing with this great program in Zambia,” said Mr. Nyasulu.

Supporting the Statement Prudential Life Assurance Managing Director Mr Krishnaswamy Rajagopal said that he was pleased that Prudential has invested in the future of Zambia through the Cha-Ching Program. “Prudential is committed to ensuring that financial education becomes a reality for all Zambians especially young people. We believe in the potential of young people and their contribution to the growth of the financial sector in Zambia.” Said Mr. Krishnaswamy.
